

The Chicago Blackhawks finally put the brakes on their team-record road skid.
Seth Jones, Nick Foligno, Jason Dickinson and Philipp Kurashev scored power-play goals as the Blackhawks went 4-for-5 with the man advantage to top the Arizona Coyotes 5-2 on Tuesday night. The win ended Chicago's 22-game losing streak away from the United Center.
Jones added an empty-netter with 28 seconds left to ice it.
Bedard had jumpConnor Bedard set up Chicago's first two scores and Tyler Johnson had three assists to help the Blackhawks snap a seven-game overall slide and win for the first time ever at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona. Their last road victory was on Nov. 9. 2023 at Tampa Bay when Bedard had two goals and two assists to lead Chicago past the Lightning 5-3.
Bedard, who leads rookie with 43 points in 49 games, was relieved along with his teammates to end the slide. The 18-year-old center looked forward to a happy flight back to Chicago. See video.
The Blackhawks, who entered with a league-worst 12.7% power-play conversion rate, scored four goals with the man advantage in a game for the first time since Jan. 9, 2018 at Ottawa.
Chicago entered 1-12-3 in its previous 16 games. Tuesday's win improved the Blackhawks to 16-42-5 and 37 points, tied for last in the NHL with San Jose.
Arvid Söderblom was solidArvid Söderblom made 37 saves for his first win since Nov. 24 when he backstopped a 4-3 overtime decision versus Toronto. The Swede made a sensational glove stop on Clayton Keller on a 2-on-1 midway through the second period.
"It's always fun to win and play good at the same time," Söderblom said. "It was a fun game to play too. A lot of shots, a lot of situations for me."
Chicago hadn't scored more than two power-play goals in a game this season, doing so only twice. And the Blackhawks had connected only eight times with the advantage since Jan. 2, a span of 26 games.
Jones, who scored just his second and goals this season, said crisp passing rather than trying to beat opponents one-on-one made the difference.
"The puck movement, it was bang, bang, bang to each other and it was in the net," Jones said. See video.
Jones's first goal of the night was the first on the power-play for a Chicago defenseman this season.
Nick Foligno had a goal and an assist.Jones opened the scoring during a 5-on-3 at 10:54 of the first. Fed by Bedard, Jones' drive from the right circle deflected in of Arizona defenseman Troy Stecher's stick.
Chicago led 4-2 after the second period, bouncing back after Arizona tied it twice.
Nick Bjugstad knotted it at 1 at 2:07 on a drive from the right circle. Foligno put Chicago back ahead 2-1 just 2:20 later on a goal-front tip-in of Bedard's feed from the left boards.
Michael Carcone scored his fourth goal against Chicago this season, knocking in a rebound to tie it 2-all at 11:42.
Kevin Korchinski was on the move.Dickinson deflected in rookie defenseman Kevin Korchinski's perfect hard feed from the right boards at at 14:10 to put the Blackhawks back ahead. Fed by Foligno from a faceoff, Kurashev ripped in a one-timer from between the circles with 1:25 left in the period to make it 4-2.
The Blackhawks managed the puck effectively in the third, then Jones fired in his second goal of the night into an empty net. Coach Luke Richardson was pleased with a rare start-to-finish solid effort by his team. See video.
The Blackhawks will practice a couple of days in Chicago as the NHL trade deadline approaches, then play at Washington on Saturday. Johnson, who will become a UFA at the end of the season, tops the list of players the Blackhawks might deal to a contender.
