A few former Blackhawks have been placed on waivers by their current clubs.
The NHL saw multiple players hit the waiver wire on Sep. 26.
A few of them happen to be former Chicago Blackhawks players, as Lukas Reichel, Caleb Jones, and Alex Nylander have been placed on waivers by their current clubs.
Reichel has been placed on waivers by the Boston Bruins. The 24-year-old was acquired by the Bruins last season from the Vancouver Canucks. This was after the Blackhawks traded him to Vancouver earlier on during the same campaign.
Reichel appeared in 29 games this past season split between the Blackhawks, Canucks, and Bruins, where he recorded three goals, eight points, and a minus-2 rating.
Reichel was selected by the Blackhawks in the first round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, 17th overall. In 174 games over five seasons with Chicago from 2021-22 to 2025-26, he posted 22 goals, 58 points, and a minus-60 rating.
Jones has been placed on waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins. The former Blackhawks defenseman was limited to only seven games last season for Pittsburgh, where he recorded one assist and a plus-1 rating. He also played one game for their AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he was held off the scoresheet.
Jones posted nine goals, 31 points, and a minus-22 rating in 124 games over two seasons with the Blackhawks from 2021-22 to 2022-23.
As for Nylander, he has been placed on waivers by the Calgary Flames. The 28-year-old forward played all of last season in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, where he recorded 24 goals and 53 points in 64 games.
Nylander played one season for the Blackhawks in 2019-20, posting 10 goals and 26 points in 65 games.
