Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson gave his players Saturday off after they bounced back from a wretched start and topped the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in overtime on Friday.
Chicago fell behind 2-0 early, but then skated with the defending Stanley Cup champions for 50-plus minutes. Ryan Donato, Connor Bedard and Taylor Raddysh score in regulation before Philipp Kurashev won it in OT with a power-play goal.
The Blackhawks handed the Golden Knights (7-0-1) their first defeat after a record-setting winning streak by a team defending its Cup title. Chicago ended and three-game slide and improved to 3-5-0.
Bedard, the NHL's touted top draft pick of 2023, now has three goals and two assists in eight games. The 18-year-old center had three shots on goal and attempted three more shots skating on a line with Kurashev and veteran Nick Foligno.
The Blackhawks next play on Monday, against the Coyotes in Arizona.
