Team Canada would do well with Boisvert on the team next year.

Colton Dach - Jan. 2 Chicago Blackhawks Media Availability

There were a lot of questionable roster decisions for Team Canada at the World Junior Championships this season, and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Sacha Boisvert was near the top of the list of young players who didn't make the cut. He is a talented player who should be a part of the tournament next season.

The poor decisions led to Team Canada leaving off a number of the more talented offensive players and it hurt them. Boisvert isn't 18 years old yet, but will be able to appear in the tournament just once next year before turning 20.

Boisvert was drafted 18th overall by the Blackhawks in 2024 and is currently playing at the University of North Dakota in the NCAA where he has eight goals and 17 points in 19 games. At the pace he's on this season and where he is expected to be next season, it would be a very poor choice to leave him off the team, never mind not give him an invite to camp.

The Blackhawks have a number of talented prospects on their way, and experience at the World Juniors would be great for Boisvert before making the jump to pro. He is expected to play a part in Chicago's turnaround that is already starting, but hopefully making some real progress by the time he is on the roster.
