The Blackhawks have a trade target to consider in Blue Jackets forward Kent Johnson.

The Chicago Blackhawks should not be afraid to add to their roster during the off-season. One area that they could look to improve is their forward group.

Due to this, one trade candidate who could make sense for the Blackhawks to take a chance on is Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kent Johnson.

Johnson is a former top prospect who had a tough 2025-26 season with Columbus. In 76 games, he recorded seven goals and 22 points. With this, it is clear that the 2021 fifth-overall pick had a hard year with the Blue Jackets.

However, when looking at Johnson's past success, he is exactly the kind of young forward that could make sense a rebuilding team like the Blackhawks to take a chance on. Just back during the 2024-25 season, Johnson had 24 goals, 33 assists, adn 57 points in just 68 games.

With numbers like these, Johnson has already shown that he has the potential to produce strong offense. Perhaps getting a fresh start on a young team like the Blackhawks could give him the spark he needs to regain his top form. Furthermore, with Johnson being just 23 years old, he could be a nice fit on the Blackhawks' roster.
