The Blackhawks are going to be careful to ensure Taylor Hall remains healthy all season.

Blackhawks' Unique Strategy With Taylor Hall

The Chicago Blackhawks are fortunate to have Taylor Hall back and healthy this season. The veteran forward missed all but 10 games last season and it was a massive loss to the team and for players like Connor Bedard.

The Blackhawks aren't taking any chances and doing what they can to ensure Hall remains as healthy as possible this season. While his knee has healed nicely and the 32-year-old said that it's as good as it's going to be, he is going to be on load management in 2024-25. This means he won't be on the ice for more than four days in a row.

When initially seeing that number, a thought might cross your mind in thinking that this will mean Hall will miss games. That shouldn't be the case. The max a team plays is two days in a row, but for the majority of the days during the season, every team is on the ice practicing for at least a little bit. If they aren't on the ice, off-ice conditioning occurs as well.

Given that the information was shared publicly, this means that there is going to be multiple times when he takes what may be called maintenance days or rest days throughout the season. Unless Hall is actually injured, he won't be missing games so that the team can keep to restricting his time on the ice and keep him healthy.

Hall said, "Knowing that, at my age, injury rates go up when guys are tired and overworked, it's important to keep that in mind." This is also not the first time Hall has missed time with injury. He has had the misfortune of missing many games throughout his career due to injuries, some that happened when he was younger and healed easier, then others in more recent years after his body had already been banged up more than a few times.

Hall is an important piece in the top-6 and the dressing room for success that will come the Blackhawks' way this season. He can still skate, score, and produce. The lineup looks much weaker without him, even though there were additions to Chicago this offseason to counter anything that may happen.

The hope is that this strategy with Hall works out and he stays healthy for a full season. The Blackhawks need it if they are going to battle their way into the playoffs.
