After entering with four goals and two assists in two games, Bedard didn't hit the scoresheet on Thursday in a 4-2 loss.

Connor Bedard struck for two goals and four points a week ago in the Blackhawks 5-3 win in Tampa Bay.

The Lightning made sure it didn't happen again on Thursday night in a rematch in Chicago.

Bedard was held to just one shot on goal, while attempting four others that were blocked or missed in Tampa Bay's 4-2 win at the United Center. The 18-year-old entered as the NHL's leading rookie scorer, with four goals and two assists in his previous two games.

Bedard was held off the scoresheet by the Lightning this time.

"We didn’t give him the puck this time," said Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman, who netted the game-winning goal. "He's a special player. He's 18-years-old and he's got to go up against a team's shutdown line and top D pair so it's not an easy league to come into."

    Bedard Hemmed In

Bedard, along with linemates Nick Foligno and Philipp Kurashev, were penned in the Hawks zone for an extended shift when Hedman snapped a 2-all tie with a tap-in goal with 8:07 left in the third. The 33-year-old former Norris Trophy winner had slipped in deep and scored after Erik Cernak's shot from the blue line bounced off the back boards.

"That's where you want to keep their top guys. You want them to have them play in their own end instead of the other way around," said Hedman, now in his 15th season. "But (Bedard) is just touching this league. He's just 14 games in and he's got a lot of years in front of him.

"It's going to be up and own, but he's handled himself great and it's going to be fun to watch."

Tampa Bay took over after Corey Perry tied it at 2 just 2:09 into the third. The 38-year-old forward got his fourth goal by completing a nifty passing play with Jason Dickinson and Boris Katchouk following a Lightning turnover at their own blue line.

"I thought that in the third period especially, they had the puck way too much in our zone and we couldn't get it back," Chicago coach Luke Richardson said.

Former Blackhawk Brandon Hagel added an empty-netter to ice it.

    Lukas Reichel Finally Connects

Lukas Reichel scored his first goal of the season in his 14th game.

Lukas Reichel, the Blackhawks first-round draft pick in 2020 (17th overall) finally scored his first goal in his 14th game. The 21-year-old German had been getting plenty of ice time.

Reichel opened the scoring with a deflection of Kurashev's shot from the left point at 12:59 of the first. He was parked in the slot and redirected the puck over Jonas Johansson's shoulder.

Reichel also has two assists so far, playing mostly as Chicago's second-line center behind Bedard.
