Connor Bedard just scored his 18th goal of the 2024-25 season and the 40th goal of his career. The 19-year-old is just in his second season in the NHL and already passed the 70 assist mark as well, sitting at 74.
With Bedard's goal to get him to 40 in his career, he joins just Sidney Crosby as the only players in the last 35 years with 40 goals and 70 assists before turning 20 years old. The Chicago Blackhawks' young star has 40 goals and 114 points in 136 games while Crosby had 75 goals and 222 points in 160 games during his first two seasons before turning 20 years old.
There is a clear separation between the two, but Crosby had much better players to play alongside and more stability. He also missed just four games in his first two seasons while Bedard missed 14 in his rookie season and this season is still 14 games from completion.
Crosby and Bedard are different players, but both seen as generational talents. Crosby has lived up to that and gone above and beyond. Bedard has lots of time to still become the player so many expect him to be.

Agree. Bedard needs help and he also needs time to develop. Not sure he's going to be a Crosby like talent, but he seems to have that potential.
