The Sabres have worked quickly to extend former Blackhawks defenseman Louis Crevier.
Former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Louis Crevier is now set to stay with the Buffalo Sabres for a good amount of time.
The Sabres have announced that they have signed Crevier to a four-year, $4 million AAV contract extension. Crevier's new contract extension with the Sabres will kick in during the 2027-28 campaign.
Crevier landing this contract extension from the Sabres comes before he has even made his first regular-season appearance for the Atlantic Division club. Clearly, Buffalo is optimistic about the 25-year-old, as they worked very quickly to extend him.
Given how well Crevier played last season for the Blackhawks, it makes sense that the Sabres signed him to this four-year contract extension ahead of their campaign. In 78 games last season for Chicago, he set career highs with seven goals, 18 assists, 25 points, and 124 hits. With numbers like these, he proved that he can be an impactful NHL defenseman.
Now, Crevier will be looking to continue to grow his game after landing this contract extension from the Sabres. The former Blackhawks defenseman has good potential, and it will be intriguing to see what he can do during his first season as a Sabre from here.
The Blackhawks traded Crevier to the Sabres this off-season as part of the Bowen Byram blockbuster. In 134 games over three seasons with the Blackhawks, he posted 10 goals, 32 points, 194 blocks, and 224 hits.
