Teravainen has fallen out of favour with Team Finland and will sit in their biggest game.

Team Finland has as good of a chance as Team Canada and a better chance than Team Sweden to advance to the finals of the 4 Nations Face-Off and they are in control of their own destiny. Finland is 100% in the final against the U.S. on Thursday if they win in regulation against Canada. If Finland wins in overtime or shootout, Team U.S.A. just has to take Sweden to overtime for Finland to advance.

In Finland's biggest game of the tournament, they have chosen to sit Teuvo Teravainen, per Elliotte Friedman.

In Finland's win over Sweden in overtime, Teravainen only played 6:23, which was by far the least on the team. He played 10:34 in the first game, second lowest on the team to only Armia in the game against the U.S.

Teravainen is -2 with two hits through two games, but he was quickly moved down the lineup despite being better than a handful of other forwards. After playing so little last game, it should've been a clear indication that he would sit in possibly the Fin's final game of the tournament.

The 30-year-old has 12 goals and 40 points on the season, but maybe he pulls in for the finals if Finland makes it there. If not, he has the rest of this season and the majority of 2025-26 to prove he belongs on Finland's Olympic team.
