Chicago's Colin Blackwell burst in and scored on a nifty puck-drag move late midway into the first period.
But that was about it when it came to highlights for the league-worst Blackhawks and Connor Bedard in a 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night at the United Center.
Colin Blackwell (No. 43, center) scored for Chicago.Chicago, dead last in the league at 15-39-3 is 1-9-1 in its last 11.
Connor Bedard was kept off the scoresheet for the first time since returning from a broken jaw last Thursday. The NHL's leading rookie scorer had two goals and four assists in his first three games since coming back against Pittsburgh.
Bedard kept shooting...Bedard has 17 goals in 43 games, tied with Minnesota rookie Marco Rossi who has skated in 56. Bedard's 39 points are tops among first-year players.
Bedard kept firing in this one and played a season-high 24:29. He finished with three shots on goal and attempted six that Flyers players blocked and two that missed the net.
"They block a lot of shots and it was frustrating at the end trying to get pucks though to the net," Chicago coach Luke Richardson said. "But that's kind of their MO and we knew that.
"I think we created as many good chances as them, but unfortunately they got a couple through and we couldn't find a rebound at the end."
Chicago has just 24 goals in its last 17 games. Only San Jose has scored fewer this season than the Blackhawks' 119.
"We're kind of back at that stage where we're having trouble getting that second goal again," Richardson said. See following video.
Philadelphia's Travis Konecny scored his team-leading 27th goal and extended his point streak to seven games. Travis Sanheim and Garnet Hathaway also connected for the Flyers, who took charge with pair of unanswered scores in the second period to build a 3-1 lead.
"We win and we're leaving," Philadelphia coach John Tortorella said. "There's not too much to discuss about the game. Just good that we got the two points.
"It was not pretty, but as long as you get the two points and get out. It's not style points right now, it's just trying to keep your concentration and just grind away to get points."
Chicago's Arvid Söderblom made 30 saves as his record dropped to 2-17-1. He hasn't won since November 24 in a 4-3 overtime victory over Toronto.
Philadelphia's Samuel Ersson blocked 22 shots as the Flyers ended a two-game slide
Bedard couldn't quite handle a loose puck in his own zone, and it ended up in the net a few seconds late when Sanheim opened the scoring at 6:18 of the first.
Joel Farabee bumped the Chicago rookie before he had time to fully gather the puck. Sanheim connected when his shot from the slot deflected off the stick of defenseman Alex Vlasic.
Blackwell tied it 1-all just 77 seconds later on a splashy burst and move.
He broke down the right wing, made a slippery move into slot after D-man Jamie Drysdale sprawled to the ice. Blackwell then beat Ersson high on the glove side.
That was it for Chicago offensively. See Blackwell in the following video.
Konecny put the Flyers ahead 2-1 at 3:15 of the second on a shot from the left circle. He fooled Söderblom just inside the right post on a rising shot.
Alone at the edge of the crease, Hathaway stuffed in a loose rebound of Noah Cates' shot at 11:55 to up Philadelphia's lead to 3-1`
