Here's why the addition of Tyler Bertuzzi will be critical for the Blackhawks moving forward.

The Chicago Blachawks got a gem from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Tyler Bertuzzi signed a four-year, $5.5 million contract with the Blackhawks this offseason and that move will be more significant than many people may actually think.
Firstoff, Bertuzzi brings a much needed offensive spark to a young rebuilding Chicago team that’s desperate for more scoring options.
This past season, the 29-year-old forward recorded 21 goals, 22 assists and 34 points in 80 games for the Maple leafs, so it’s clear that he’ll serve a top-six role in The Windy City.
More importantly than just his skills though, Bertuzzi provides the Blackhawks with a certain energy and presence that is needed to construct a winning culture.
Bertuzzi is a player who has a ton of heart and is never afraid to get physical to defend his teammates.
His unique personality and grittiness should spread contagiously throughout the team and really help Chicago find some sort of winning identity as they continue to rebuild.
Throughout a rebuild, it’s critical not to stay stagnant and improve steadily over the years and Bertuzzi will certainly be a key orchestrator in improving not just talent wise, but mentally.
“Tyler is a fantastic competitor who brings energy every night,” Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson said. “He has enjoyed consistent offensive success throughout his career and we look forward to watching Tyler to continue to produce at the high level he’s shown he is capable of.”
It takes players with passion to build a lasting foundation and that’s the kind of player the Blackhawks are getting with Bertuzzi.
