Chicago Blackhawks head coach Anders Sorensen gave an update on the health of Petr Mrazek and Alec Martinez.

The Chicago Blackhawks lost to the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, they lost more than just the hockey game.

During the game, Petr Mrazek left after sustaining an injury while making a save. He tried to stay in the game but was unable to deal with the pain.

Mrazek was replaced by Arvid Soderblom and never returned. The Blackhawks didn't take long to announce that he would miss the remainder of the game with a lower-body injury.

After the game, interim head coach Anders Sorensen held his first-ever postgame presser as an NHL head coach. His update on Mrazek was not what anyone wanted to hear.

"He'll be out for a little bit" - Coach Sorensen said when asked about Mrazek. He confirmed it as a lower-body injury.

After enjoying a mostly clean bill of health, this is tough for Mrazek. He has dealt with groin injuries earlier in his career and the hope is that this isn't a repeat of that.

Mrazek has been wonderful for Chicago this year despite the team playing poorly in front of him. Things would look even worse if he wasn't there.

This isn't the only update that coach Sorensen had either. He updated the media on Alec Martinez who also sustained an injury when a puck hit him in the neck/face area. It sounds like he is going to be gone for a while too.

After already missing time with an injury, hurting himself blocking shots, and other painful experiences so far this season, it's been a tough stretch for Martinez.

He did score his first of the season earlier in the Jets game which had to feel nice but the good feeling didn't last long.

Chicago needs both of these vets back, especially since they are easing in a new interim head coach.
