Ryan Roobroeck is a Blackhawks prospect to watch closely.

With the 35th overall pick of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks selected forward Ryan Roobroeck. With the Blackhawks needing more skilled wingers, it makes a lot of sense that they took a chance on Roobroeck in the second round.

Roobroeck put together a solid 2025-26 season with the Niagara IceDogs of the OHL, recording 30 goals, 28 assists, and 58 points. With numbers like these, the 6-foot-3 forward showed promise offensively. However, his best season with the OHL club was in 2024-25.

In 64 games during the 2024-25 season with the IceDogs, Roobroeck posted an impressive 41 goals, 46 assists, and 87 points in 64 games. These are very encouraging numbers, and he is a prospect who fans should watch closely because of it.

If Roobroeck can tap into the kind of offense that he had during the 2024-25 season, he would become an even more fascinating prospect in the Blackhawks' system. The potential for him to emerge as an impactful big forward in the NHL is certainly there.

It will be interesting to see what kind of season Roobroeck can have next season. He will be playing for the Guelph Storm of the OHL, as they acquired him from the IceDogs last month.
