A look to the franchise and single-season records held by Patrick Roy for the Colorado Avalanche.
NHL Hall of Famer and former Colorado Avalanche legend, Patrick Roy has returned to the NHL as the newest Head Coach of the New York Islanders. The goaltender currently holds multiple franchise records despite having last played for the team for the 2002-03 season at the age of 37.
Acquired on Dec. 6, 1995, from the Montreal Canadiens, Roy appeared in 478 regular season games with the Avalanche with a 262-140-65 record, and a .918 Save Percentage (SV%) in his eight seasons with the organization. His 478 Games Played and 262 Win's as a member of the Avalanche put him 89 and 79, respectively, ahead of the second-highest in each category (currently held by Semyon Varlamov.)
Roy also holds the franchise record for most Shots Against (12,994), Saves (11,924), Goals Against Average (2.27), Shutouts (37), Minutes Played (28.317), and Goalie Point Shares (93.5).
The goaltender sits atop several single-season records for the most Ties Plus OT/SO Losses (13) in both the 1997-98 and 2002-03 seasons, GAA (1.94), Shutouts (9), and Goals Saved Above Average (34).

Though Roy or any other goaltender has never scored a goal in franchise history, he does still hold the record for most assists by a goaltender (17) and penalty minutes (152).
With the current landscape of today's NHL and a desire to increase goal-scoring across the league, it is doubtful a goaltender will ever touch the legendary numbers that Roy put up in his time as a member of the Avalanche. His career and single-season records in Colorado could very well go down as some of the best of all time.
