With a 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow, Avangard Omsk, and defensemen Mikhail Gulyayev are heading to the KHL semi-finals against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. 

Gulyayev struggled this season, scoring only one goal and two assists for three points in 54 games, but in the playoffs, he has been a completely different player. In 10 playoff games, he has one goal and four assists for five points. That's tied for the most points by a defenseman on the team.
