As the Avalanche take on the Golden Knights in the Western Conference Finals, could the Knights already be feeling some heat heading towards the offseason?

Pavel Dorofeyev has been fantastic this season, finishing with 37 goals and 27 assists for 64 points in all 82 games. In 12 playoff games (not counting Game 1), he has nine goals and two assists for 11 points, a big season for the pending RFA.

With the new compensation thresholds announced for offer sheets, could the Edmonton Oilers, who are really feeling the pressure of Connor McDavid having two more seasons left on his contract, be someone to force the Knights' hand into signing him to a deal larger than they want, or take the draft capital?

$11.9 million for two seasons is a lot of money, but if you drop it to a range of $7,163,498 to $9,551,332, then it's only a first, second, and third round pick. Remember, the cap is set to rise dramatically over the next two summers and onwards.
