    Game Time

Nathan MacKinnon takes a pass from Brent Burns and scores just 1:26 into the game. However, on the same play, Josh Manson takes a hit and is injured on the play and was on the way to the dressing room as MacKinnon lit the lamp.

Sam Malinski to the box for roughing Luke Evangelista. Evangelista responded by slashing Malinski after they made contact in front of the net but was not issued a penalty.

Nashville shoots the puck over the glass with 10:04 to go in the period and it's on Reid Schaefer. Colorado is on the power play. The man advantage ended prematurely after Valeri Nichushkin was called for interference, but Jack Drury snapped a wrister by Justus Annunen to make it 2-0 Avalanche.

However, Nashville was still on the power play, and they snagged a goal when Jonathan Marchessault one-timed a shot from the slot by Scott Wedgewood to make it a one-goal game.

    Period 2

Victor Olofsson and Ross Colton had a very close call in the early stages of the second as they nearly collided at center-ice.

Malinski and Evangelista get into it again and this time Malinski high-sticked him in the mouth. However, before heading off to the box for his second minor penalty of the game, Malinski apologized to Evangelista. Nearly midway into the frame, the Predators held an 18-15 advantage in shots on net.

Erik Haula tripped Martin Necas and there was a delayed call, but Nashville failed to gain control of the puck. Victor Olofsson scooped up a pass from Samuel Girard that was partially deflected and fired it by Annunen to make it a 3-1 game.

Tyson Jost was issued a four-minute double minor for high-sticking Manson. But a short time later, officials overturned the call because Jost hit Manson's stick and caused Manson's stick to hit him in the face, a situation that has been called differently in the past. However, Jost would eventually end up in the box for hooking, although Colorado failed to score on the power play.

    Period 3

Once again, the officiating has come into question. Valeri Nichushkin gets clobbered with a high-stick that draws blood, but the officials ruled there was no penalty on the play.

Colorado went on the man advantage with just under eight minutes remaining in regulation after Roman Josi tripped Nichushkin. The Avs were unable to convert and fell to 0/4 on the power play.
