There's a new kid coming to town.

The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Matthew DiMarsico to a two-year, entry-level contract beginning with the 2026–27 NHL season, the club announced. He will report to the Colorado Eagles on an AHL contract for the remainder of the 2025–26 campaign.

Collegiate Production at Penn State

The 22-year-old DiMarsico arrives in the organization after a strong collegiate career at Penn State University, where he developed into a consistent offensive presence. This past season, he posted 42 points (18 goals, 24 assists) in 37 games, finishing second on the team in scoring and leading the Nittany Lions in goals. His production marked personal bests at the NCAA level, and he earned Big Ten Honorable Mention All-Star honors for his performance.

Over three seasons with Penn State from 2023 to 2026, the Wexford, Pennsylvania native totaled 100 points (42 goals, 58 assists) in 111 games. During his tenure, the Nittany Lions qualified for the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons and reached the National Semifinal in 2024–25. DiMarsico played a key role in that postseason run, scoring an overtime goal to clinch the Regional Championship and help send Penn State to its first Frozen Four appearance in program history.

Before his college career, DiMarsico spent the 2022–23 season in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers, where he recorded 46 points (25 goals, 21 assists) in 59 games. He led the team in goals and ranked fourth in overall scoring while also contributing an assist across three Clark Cup Playoff appearances.

His path to the professional ranks also includes a stint at Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut during the 2021–22 season, where he tallied 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) in 27 games.

With the signing, Colorado adds a young forward who has demonstrated steady offensive growth at each level of competition and now begins his transition into the pro game with the organization’s AHL affiliate ahead of his entry-level contract taking effect next season.
