Stan Kroenke is adding the Los Angeles Angels to his already massive sports portfolio, further expanding the empire that includes the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Rams and Arsenal.
Stan Kroenke’s sports empire continues to expand, and his latest move takes him into Major League Baseball.
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment announced Tuesday that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels from the Moreno family. The transaction is expected to close during the first quarter of 2027, pending customary closing conditions and approval from Major League Baseball.
Kroenke is already one of the most powerful owners in professional sports, with KSE controlling the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rapids and Colorado Mammoth, as well as the Los Angeles Rams and English soccer clubs Arsenal FC and Arsenal Women. Under Kroenke’s ownership, the Avalanche have established themselves as one of the NHL’s premier franchises, winning the Stanley Cup in 2022 and remaining a perennial contender in the years since.
The Angels will now become the latest addition to that growing portfolio.
Kroenke’s ownership group has steadily expanded its presence across professional sports, with franchises spanning the NHL, NBA, NFL, MLS, NLL, Premier League and now MLB.
The acquisition also gives KSE another major foothold in Southern California.
Kroenke-affiliated entities own the Rams and developed SoFi Stadium and the surrounding 300-acre Hollywood Park district in Inglewood. The development has become one of the region’s major sports and entertainment destinations and will host Olympic and Paralympic events in 2028.
Adding the Angels extends that presence farther south into Orange County and gives KSE another franchise in one of the largest sports markets in the United States.

The Moreno family has owned the Angels since 2003. Arte Moreno said the family believes KSE is the right group to take the franchise into its next chapter.
“The Angels Organization is pleased to announce this transaction with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment,” Moreno said. “The Moreno Family has been honored to steward the Angels for 23 years and we believe with KSE’s experience and success they are the best next owner for the franchise.”
The transaction still requires approval from MLB before it can be completed.
For KSE, the deal continues a remarkable expansion that has made Kroenke one of the most prominent owners in sports. His portfolio now stretches from Colorado to Los Angeles and across multiple professional leagues on both sides of the Atlantic.
Now, KSE is adding another historic franchise to the mix.
The Angels will give Kroenke another team in Los Angeles alongside the Rams, strengthening a presence that has already grown substantially through the development of SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park.
For an ownership group that already spans seven professional sports franchises across several major markets, the Angels represent another significant addition to an increasingly expansive portfolio.
For Avalanche fans, it is another reminder of just how far Kroenke’s reach extends beyond Colorado—and how much larger KSE’s sports empire continues to become.
