The Avalanche's head coach has provided an update on Jonathan Drouin.

The Avalanche's head coach has provided an update on Jonathan Drouin.

The Colorado Avalanche picked up a massive 6-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. With this win, they have officially taken the series and are set to play either the Dallas Stars or Vegas Golden Knights in the second round.

The Avalanche may need to wait some time before playing the second round, as the Stars and Golden Knights are currently tied at 2-2 in the series. Due to this, they are in for some rest but must stay sharp.

With the second round coming up, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar was asked about Jonathan Drouin's potential availability for the series. The 29-year-old forward, of course, missed the entirety of the first round due to a lower-body injury.

Here's what Bednar said about the prospect of Drouin returning at some point during the second round: "It fits the timeline. He’s got a long way to go because he hasn't hit the ice yet. He’s still working on his rehab. The timeline was 4 weeks or less. We're still hoping for that. He’s making progress…. We'll see how long that other series goes and just how much time we have.”

It would be massive if the Avalanche got Drouin back during the next series. The 2013 first-round pick had a magnificent regular season for the Avs, posting 19 goals and a career-high 56 points in 79 games.

While Drouin still has plenty of work to do, it is good to hear that he could return at some point in Round 2.
