Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports - Landeskog recovering ‘slow and steady’

Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog looks like he is progressing quite well after major knee surgery just a little over a month ago.

The last game Landeskog played was June 28, 2022, when the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 to win the Stanley Cup.

But as recently learned, he was playing on a knee he injured back in the 2020 bubble. The 30-year-old had surgery in March of 2022 but was able to make it back in time for the playoffs.

He had another surgery in October of 2022 which didn’t fix the issue and he missed the entire 2022-23 season.

In April this year, he announced that he wouldn’t make it back for the playoffs. He explained that he suffered a cartilage injury on the bottom of his patella that had progressed over the last two seasons.

Landeskog shared in a news conference on May 9 he would miss the entire upcoming 2023-24 season. On May 10, he underwent surgery for a cartilage transplant in his right knee in Chicago.

He posted on Instagram after the surgery that all went well and has kept a positive outlook for his future.

Landeskog provided a new update on his Instagram page on June 15 showing him doing exercises in the pool and on the bike. And he chose some fantastic tunes to put in his recovery work. He captioned it, "Week 5, slow and steady."

Avs Faithful appreciate that he continues to lead off the ice and show his teammates he’s working to get back on the ice to win another Stanley Cup with them.
