Colorado's elite center excelled last week and the NHL honored him with another star for his success.

Nathan MacKinnon earned the NHL's First Star of the Week with three multi-point home wins for 10 points while he extended his home-point streak to 32 games.
The 28-year-old elite center took the top spot in the Art Ross Trophy scoring race and currently sits four points ahead of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov.
The Halifax, Nova Scotia native had two consecutive four-point games with two goals and two assists in the Avs' 5-0 shutout against the Blackhawks on March 4 and a goal and three assists in a 7-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on March 6. He also had a pair of assists in the 2-1 overtime win versus the Minnesota Wild on March 8.
MacKinnon surpassed 40 goals last week and became the fourth player in Avalanche/Nordiques history to record three-or-more 40-goal campaigns. He shares the milestone with legends Michel Goulet (7), Joe Sakic (5) and Peter Stastny (5).
MacKinnon broke the century mark in points for the second season in a row and second of his career on Feb. 29 against the Chicago Blackhawks. He has only been held scoreless in 10 of the 65 games played this season.
"Nate (MacKinnon) is exceptional when it comes to not just mentally him wanting to be the best he can be in wanting to win, but the discipline to follow up," head coach Jared Bednar told The Hockey News' Colleen Flynn."You know, the way he's feeling in that regard with the preparation, the consistency, the discipline to do all the right things at and away from the rink — in-season, offseason, pregame, postgame — to be able to make that happen. He's very committed to that and it obviously works for him."
His current home-point scoring streak is tied for the third-longest in NHL history with Guy Lafleur (32 in 1978-79). Wayne Gretzky holds the top spot for the two longest streaks at any time in the season (33 in 1985-86 with the Edmonton Oilers) and the longest from the season's start (40 in 1988-89 with the LA Kings).
The Avalanche are on the road for the next week and a half. MacKinnon can try and continue consecutively scoring at home on March 22 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
