The Colorado Avalanche have extended AHL forward Ivan Ivan on a two-year contract extension.

The Colorado Avalanche announced earlier Tuesday the two-year extension of minor leaguer Ivan Ivan worth nearly $1.9 million for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.
Through 51 games this season, the 21-year-old Czechia native has produced 12 goals and 27 points for the Colorado Eagles in the AHL. Ivan currently leads all Eagles in goals, assists, points and multi-point outings (5) this season.
Before beginning his professional career, he played for the Cape Brenton Eagles of the QMJHL from 2019-2023. He earned 75 goals and 177 points through 191 regular season games, including a career-high 33 goals and 90 points through 64 games during his 2022-23 campaign. The forward led his team in goals, assists and total points throughout the regular season and was among the top-10 league leaders in points and assists.

Internationally, Ivan played in the 2019-20 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, and in four games he registered one goal and a minus-1 rating. He was also a 2021-22 Czechia U20 squad member at the World Junior Championship U-20 tournament, where he notched one assist and a minus-4 rating in seven games.
It is uncertain if and when Ivan would receive a chance in the NHL at this point in his career. However, should he receive a call-up, he will likely find a role as a bottom-six, penalty-killing forward. As the Avalanche have only eight players signed beyond the 2024-25 season, he could find himself in contention for a cost-controlled option soon.
