The Colorado Avalanche’s Nathan MacKinnon has officially notched 100 points in a single season for the second time in his career and in back-to-back seasons.

Heading into Thursday night's game against Central Division opponent, the Chicago Blackhawks, MacKinnon leads the team with 98 points (35 goals, 63 assists) in 60 games. The star forward entered the game riding a seven-game point streak recording 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in that span.

His 100th point of the season came in the third period at the 17:32 mark as he came speeding down the wing and released a quick wrist shot past the Blackhawks' veteran goaltender, Petr Mrazek recording his 36th goal of the season to increase his team's lead to 5-0.

MacKinnon has been among the top two in scoring for the club since the 2016-17 season and in the top three since 2015-16. He has been an integral and key component of the Avalanche’s success since coming into the league in 2013.

The 28-year-old forward is currently on pace to surpass his own career-high 111 points that he recorded only one season ago. If he continues at this current point pace, MacKinnon could be the second player in franchise history to surpass 130 points since the 1981-82 season when Peter Stastny scored 139 points recording 46 goals and 93 assists.

This season, MacKinnon has the chance to surpass franchise legends like Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg and cement himself in the top five or even the top three single-season point producers.
