Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg were an exciting pair to watch and their production was incredible even though they were different in style. Some may even notice similarities from The Hockey News' article in the Feb. 26, 1999 issue to a current duo on the roster.

There have been plenty of exceptional pairs in the NHL over the years, but the aptly named "Dynamic Duo" of Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg was truly special.

The two were different in many ways but when they hit the ice they were in sync as highlighted in the Feb. 26, 1999 issue of The Hockey News.

"We have a lot more puck control and we're just more patient with the puck," Sakic told The Hockey News after a game in Buffalo in 1999. "We'll hold onto it until someone gets open."

Oddly enough, the two sound similar to a current Colorado Avalanche duo — Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen.

The article has more likenesses of the Dynamic Duo to the current points leaders on the team and how Sakic and Forsberg ended up playing on the same line. It also taps into the shift of the game and foundation of the modern-day systems in the Avalanche organization.

The overall issue covers a glimpse into what contributed to the Dallas Stars winning the Stanley Cup that season and what goaltending was like around the league at the time. Some other fun nuggets to take a trip down memory lane include a peak at what ended up being Dale Hunter's last season and Claude Lemieux's consistency throughout his career.
