The Jackets Are In Boston
The Jackets are in Boston to take on the powerhouse Bruins at 7 p.m.
The Bruins will be on home ice tonight as they welcome Columbus. This will be the second time the two teams have played this week. The Jackets beat the Bruins last Monday night in Columbus.
The Bruins were in Toronto last night and won the game in OT. After giving up the tying goal with five seconds left in regulation to Auston Matthews, the Bruins would score the game-winner with eight seconds left in OT to win. Having to travel and get home late, and playing 65 minutes of hockey, the Bruins should be nice and tired for the CBJ.
The Bruins have won two straight games. They're 1st in the Atlantic, 2nd in the East, and 2nd in the league.
Three Keys
Don't Take Penalties. Against Ottawa, the CBJ took three penalties in the first period and five total in the game. They CANNOT do that against the Bruins and their 10th-ranked power play. The Jackets played an excellent game the last time they played the Bruins, do that again.
Keep The Power Play Hot. The Jackets scored two power-play goals against the Senators on Friday night. On both power plays they were throwing pucks at the net. Boston takes a lot of penalties, so they will get their chances.
Keep Up The Momentum. Columbus rallied back from an early 2-0 Sens lead on Friday to win 4-2. After the Jackets tied it, the game was all CBJ. Keep the momentum from that win, and keep the confidence they already have from knowing they can beat one of the best teams in the league.
Series History
- Columbus is 6-7-5 all-time in Boston. The Jackets are 15-14-10 overall.
- After the Jackets won last Monday, it broke a six-game losing streak to the Bruins.
Who to watch for Boston
- David Pastrnak has 14 goals and 36 points. He has 15 power-play points this season. He was held without a point in the last meeting vs. the CBJ.
- Charlie Coyle has 9 goals and 19 points. Coyle was also held pointless in the last game the CBJ and Bruins played.
- Linus Ullmark got the start last night against the Toronto Maple Leafs, so it's assumed that Jeremy Swayman will start against Columbus. Swayman was pulled in favor of Ullmark in last Monday's game vs. the Jackets after Swayman gave up two goals.
Player Notes
- Johnny Gaudreau has 17 points in 17 games vs. the Bruins. He also has five points in his last five games played.
- Boone Jenner had two assists in last Monday's meeting. He leads the team with 12 goals.
- Patrik Laine has scored in his last two games and has a three-game points streak currently.
