The Columbus Blue Jackets are in Raleigh today to play the Carolina Hurricanes in the second of four total meetings between the two Metro teams.
The Blue Jackets are struggling. But the good news is, they know how to beat Carolina. Back on November 23rd, they beat the Canes in a shootout, shocking a lot of people. The bad news is, that win was their third straight win at the time, and were playing really well. Now, not so much.
The CBJ are 3-4-3 in their last 10 games, have lost three straight, and six of seven overall. This season has been swinging from one extreme to the other. They either score six goals a game and win, or score 2-3 goals and lose. There's been no in-between.
The Hurricanes haven't been world-beaters themselves in December either. Carolina is 4-5-1 in their last 10 and has lost 5 of 7 overall. Despite all that, they're still 4th in goals per game scored, 11th in goals against per game, 4th on the power play, and have the 3rd best penalty kill. Yes, the Canes are still good.
The Hurricanes currently sit 3rd in the Metro, 5th in the East, and 10th in the NHL.
