The Columbus Blue Jackets and Edmonton Oilers will face each other for the first time this season tonight at Nationwide Arena.

The Columbus Blue Jackets Outlook and Success

The Columbus Blue Jackets are back home tonight after a quick 1-game trip to Nashville.

The Jackets welcome the Edmonton Oilers into the friendly confines tonight and will try to halt the Oilers' modest 2-game winning streak. Edmonton has stumbled out of the gate and currently sits at 4-4-1 due to subpar goaltending and lack of scoring.

Edmonton is currently 29th in goals after scoring just 21 goals in their 9 games played, which equates to 2.33 goals scored per game. That doesn't seem possible with the players they have. Conversely, Columbus is 16th in the league in goals scored at 27, which is 3.85 goals per game. The universe seems upside down, doesn't it?

The Oilers' power play is also bad right now at 13%, with Columbus sitting one spot better than them in 26th. Edmonton also has the worst PK in the league at 60%, while the Jackets sit in 13th with a kill rate of 80%.

Edmonton currently sits 5th in the Pacific, 9th in the West, and 20th in the NHL.
