Columbus vs. Carolina Second Period Recap

The second period did not start very well. Ivan Provorov was called for tripping Carolina's Jack Drury, giving the Canes another power play.

Just a minute into that power play, Sean Kuraly was called for delay of game when he sent the puck over the glass. The Jackets would kill off both Hurricane penalties, which is huge and keeps the score at 2-0.

With 13:15 left, Damon Severson would be called for tripping Sebastian Aho, giving the Hurricanes their 4th power play of the game. The Jackets would kill them both, with Malcolm Subban stopping 6 Carolina pp shots.

The Hurricanes continue to dominate the game. Ten minutes into the second and shots are 21-9 Hurricanes. Columbus has had a few good rushes to this point, but nothing that would be considered a high-danger chance.

With about six minutes left, Justin Danforth had another breakaway but couldn't get a shot off. He instead had to retreat a little and attempt a cross-ice pass to Brendan Gaunce who fanned on it. A missed opportunity.

Malcolm Subban has played well in his Columbus debut.
