The Columbus Blue Jackets have had many players don the Union Blue in their history. The number 77 has only been worn a handful of times, however.

Let's look at the players that have worn the number.

    Who Wore It First?

    • Anson Carter - Carter played 54 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets during the 2006-07 season after signing a one-year deal with Columbus on September 13, 2006. He scored 10 goals and totaled 27 points during his short tenure in Columbus. He was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on February 23, 2007, in exchange for a 5th-round pick in 2008(Tomas Kubalik). He would play the next season in Switzerland before retiring.

    Who Wore It Last?

    • Nick Blankenburg - Blankenburg signed as a free agent by Columbus, April 8, 2022. He played in 55 games for the CBJ throughout 2 plus seasons. He scored 6 goals and totaled 18 points for the Jackets. Unfortunately for Blankenburg, he couldn't stay healthy, and that made him expendable. After not being tendered an offer by Don Waddell, he signed as a free agent by Nashville, July 1, 2024, for two years.

    Who Wore It Best?

    • Josh Anderson - Anderson is the only #77 on the list who was drafted by the Blue Jackets. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 draft. Anderson played in 267 games for the CBJ. He would score 65 goals and total 115 points. Anderson had massive potential, but just couldn't quite stay healthy enough for GM Jarmo Kekäläinen to offer him the contract Anderson wanted. On October 6, 2020, Anderson was traded to Montreal by Columbus for Max Domi and a 3rd-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. In 82 more games played for Montreal, Anderson only has 20 more points than he had in Columbus.

    Others That Have Worn #77

    • Chris Gratton - Gratton only played six games for the CBJ during the 2008-09 season. Gratton was claimed off of re-entry waivers on February 21, 2009 after the Tampa Bay Lightning put him on waivers. He scored zero goals, had one assist, was a plus-2, and had two penalty minutes. He retired from professional hockey after those six games with Columbus.

There are 77 days left until opening night at Nationwide Arena.
