Adam Boqvist interviewed with an online Swedish site hockeysverige.se today.
The Adam Boqvist injury bug is something that has plagued him in his short career, missing 87 games over three years, even prompting fans online to resort to begging him to change his number from the seemingly haunted #27. Former defenseman Ryan Murray wore that number last, and had terrible luck with injuries, playing only one season where he appeared in more than 66 games. Murray appeared in approximately half of the games he was eligible for in his career. With that injury bug in mind, Boqvist decided to turn down an invitation to play in the WC saying,
-“Of course, I wanted to play, but at the same time, I felt that I needed this summer and really train in order to be whole for a whole season. It's tough to be injured and miss 30 games. So it was me, the physical trainers and our medical team who said that it is better to train and have a long summer.”
