Adam Fantilli To Return Home From World Championships To "Focus" on 2024-25 Season
In a somewhat surprising move, Team Canada announced today that they would be sending Columbus forward Adam Fantilli home from the IIHF World Championships in Czechia.
In a press release, the team says that Fantilli "will return home to focus on preparing for the 2024-25 season." No other explanation was given.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, "Both Celebrini and Fantilli were initially accepted their invite with the understanding they may not have a roster spot if more experienced players were made available. Both were also given the option to stay in Prague or return home."
Adam had his season derailed by a calf laceration suffered in a game against the Seattle Kraken, causing him to miss the final 33 games. When he went down due to injury, he had 27 points. He had hoped to return later in the season, but the team chose to keep him out to help him heal.
