The Blue Jackets' decision to acquire Coyle from the Colorado Avalanche last off-season certainly paid off. The veteran center ended up being a great addition to Columbus' roster this past season, as he posted 20 goals, 38 assists, and 58 points.
With numbers like these, Coyle emerged as a key part of the Blue Jackets' forward group last season. It is exactly why the Blue Jackets ended up signing him to a six-year, $36 million contract extension back in May.
Now, the Blue Jackets will be looking for Coyle to put up another strong season for them. The Massachusetts native ability to provide solid secondary offensive production, steady two-way play, and grit makes him a good player for Columbus to have around.
