Danton Heinen Should Be Useful Depth Forward For The Blue Jackets
Earlier this summer, the Blue Jackets brought back Heinen on a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season.
With the Blue Jackets re-signing Heinen, he should once again be a useful depth forward for Columbus to have around. It is never a bad thing for an NHL team to have a forward with a good amount of experience in their depth, and Heinen will give the Blue Jackets just that again.
Heinen was acquired by the Blue Jackets as part of the trade that sent Egor Chinakhov to the Pittsburgh Penguins last season. In 33 games with Columbus following the move, Heinen posted five goals, five assists, 10 points, and a plus-6 rating.
Overall, if Heinen can provide similar offense to this as a depth forward for the Blue Jackets, he could end up being a sneaky good signing for them. There is no risk in the Blue Jackets bringing him back on his two-way deal, and it will be interesting to see what he can do in 2026-27.
