What can the Blue Jackets expect from Lomberg?

With the 2026-27 season rapidly approaching, we here at The Hockey News Columbus Blue Jackets will be writing previews for each Blue Jackets player.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be taking a look at Blue Jackets forward Ryan Lomberg.

Ryan Lomberg Will Make Things Tougher For The Blue Jackets' Opponents

The primary reason why the Blue Jackets signed Lomberg this off-season is because of his hard-nosed style of play and toughness. He is a heart-and-soul player who will give the Blue Jackets' lineup for bite and energy, which is never a bad thing.

Due to this tenacious style of play, Lomberg should fit nicely in the Blue Jackets' bottom six this season.

Lomberg played in 57 games last season with the Calgary Flames, where he posted four goals, nine points, 59 penalty minutes, and 129 hits. Overall, he is not expected to provide a ton of offense for the Blue Jackets, but his gritty style of play should make him a solid addition.

It will now be interesting to see what kind of season Lomberg can put together for Columbus in 2026-27 from here.
