James van Riemsdyk(13,14), Sean Kuraly(5), Kent Johnson(20), and Kirill Marchenko(24) scored the goals for Columbus, while Daniil Tarasov stopped 29 of 31 Wings shots in the win. It was Daniil Tarasov’s first start since Jan 31.
Daniil Tarasov was fantastic in this game, making some very good saves throughout the game. He did look a little rusty in the first period, but he settled down nicely and looked very composed in the final two periods.
Boone Jenner, playing in just his third game of the season, had a massive game for the Jackets, recording three assists and registering 7 shots. Fellow veteran James van Riemsdyk continues to score goals for the Jackets. Don Waddell is going to have to make a big decision regarding van Riemsdyk at the trade deadline.
Unfortunately, there is some bad news for the Blue Jackets, as center Cole Sillinger was lost early in the first period. After taking a hit from Mo Seider, he played another couple shifts but then left the game and never returned. The Jackets would announce that he was lost for the game. Head Coach Dean Evason didn't have an update on Sillinger's condition after the game.
With the win, the Blue Jackets now have 66 points and occupy the second wild card spot in the East. The Red Wings hold the tiebreaker. Suddenly, the game on Saturday at Ohio Stadium has massive playoff implications.
