The Columbus Blue Jackets have the chance to do something that many fans would love to see ahead of the March 7 NHL Trade Deadline.
Seattle Kraken's Oliver Bjorkstrand has become subject to trade rumors with the team's lack of success. With that, he has found himself on trade bait boards around the NHL.
With the injury to Kirill Marchenko, the Blue Jackets need more scoring help, and that is why bringing Bjorkstrand back to Columbus would be ideal.
Bjorkstrand, 29, is set to become a UFA this season. However, with the cap projection set to rise, the Blue Jackets may be able to re-sign him.
So far, in 54 games with the Kraken, he has 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points. Last season, he had 59 points in 82 games.
The asking price for Bjorkstrand is unknown at this time. But with how surprising the Blue Jackets have been this season, GM Don Waddell may be willing to reward them by being buyers at the deadline.
Obviously, that would be based on each trade because Waddell likely wouldn't want to trade a ton of assets. However, if reacquiring Bjorkstrand meant giving up a prospect and a mid-round pick, he may be more inclined to do it.
The deadline is a month away, so buckle up because things are going to heat up and get interesting.
