Are the Blue Jackets close to signing Dante Fabbro long-term?

According to Andy Strickland, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Dante Fabbro have "made progress on a long-term extension." This is very good news for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Both Don Waddell, and Dante Fabbro have said publicly that they want to get a deal done to keep the young defenseman in Columbus. So while this doesn't come as a shock, when a player goes into the summer without a deal, it usually ends up with the player being wined and dined by another team with a sweetheart deal and they leave the team they just played for.

After being plucked off waivers by the CBJ from Nashville last season, Fabbro was nothing but good. He played in 62 games for Columbus, scoring 9 goals, and totaling 26 points, and finishing with a plus-23 rating. He also averaged 21:39 playing alongside Zach Werenski.

Zach Werenski also gave Fabbro a public shout out, telling the media that he hopes the Jackets can get him back long-term.
