Daniil Tarasov gave up two goals in the first 4:26, and that would be it. Tarasov would be pulled in favor of Elvis Merzļikins, marking the second time in three games a Jackets goalie has been yanked from a game. 

The Blue Jackets were held scoreless yet again in a shutout loss to the Senators. After going up 3-2 last week in the Avs game, they haven't scored a goal since. They've been outscored 14-0 in that span. 

They're not officially eliminated with six games to go, but it's essentially over for the 2024-25 season. With a loss on Tuesday and a Montreal win, they're will be a giant E next to the Blue Jackets' name in the standings, marking the end of an excellent run for Columbus. No one expected them to be playing meaningful games this season, let alone in April.
