This Pacific Division club is continuing to be connected to Mason Marchment with the start of free agency just about here.
With the start of free agency just about here, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Mason Marchment still has not signed a contract extension. Because of this, there is a good chance that he will hit the free agent market once it hits noon ET on July 1.
If Marchment tests free agency, a team in the Pacific Division is being viewed as a potential suitor for the Blue Jackets winger.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman named the Sharks as a potential favorite to land Marchment due to his late father, Bryan Marchment, playing there.
"Someone made a great point that a sentimental favourite might be San Jose, longtime NHL home of his late father Bryan. The two were extremely close," Friedman wrote.
TSN's Darren Dreger also mentioned the Sharks as a potential fit for Marchment in free agency.
"Mason Marchment has certainly been a player of interest of late. Some see San Jose as a good and likely fit," Dreger posted on X.
With the Sharks being an exciting team on the rise and Marchment already having a connection to the organization, it could make a lot of sense for San Jose to sign him. He would provide their top nine with a much-needed power forward and could be a good veteran player for their young players to have around.
