Werenski named NHL's third star of January
The NHL has named its three stars for the month of January, and Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski has made the list.
Werenski was named the third star of the month after an outstanding stretch of play, earning well-deserved recognition.
In January, he recorded six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 14 games—a franchise record for points in a month by a Blue Jackets player. Of those points, six goals and 10 assists came at even strength.
He also carries a 19-game home point streak, which he’ll look to extend when the Blue Jackets return home next week.
Werenski is finally getting the recognition he deserves from the NHL. If he wasn’t already on your radar as one of the league’s top defensemen, he sure is now!
What's Next: The Blue Jackets travel to Dallas to play the Stars on Sunday.
