The Columbus Blue Jackets announced overnight that they have traded for veteran forward Conor Garland, who has spent the last five seasons with the Vancouver Canucks.
Garland, originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in 2015, was traded to Vancouver in 2021. He played 164 in Arizona and totaled 96 points.
For Vancouver, Garland played 371 games, had 82 goals and 221 total points.
Don Waddell said of Garland via a press release, “Conor is a versatile player who brings great energy to the lineup every night, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him and his family to Columbus. He has tremendous character, plays a reliable two-way game, and will be an important part of our club now and in the future.”
With this trade brings a bit of anxiety. Last night, Mason Marchment left the game to a lower body injury and didn't return. Was this trade due to Marchment's injury? Or was this a plan all along by Waddell?
Stay tuned for the answer later today.
