The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that Mike Priest, the President and alternate governor of the club, will retire on September 30th.
He's held that position since 2007. John H. McConnell II will take over both roles.
The announcement comes as camp is set to begin tomorrow, with star center Adam Fantilli still not signed. Many will point to this as a major turning point in the franchise, and in a positive light.
The holdout of Adam Fantilli is thought to be driven by the fact that the CBJ doesn't want to pay Fantilli, which isn't necessarily true, but could be the work of Priest.
"For three decades, Mike has been an invaluable member of the JMAC and Blue Jackets families and has played an integral role in helping shape both companies during periods of growth, change, and opportunity and has done so with integrity, professionalism and a commitment to our staff, customers and fans," said John H.
