    Blue Jackets battled Canadiens in a thrilling shootout victory. Hear from players and coaches after snapping their losing streak.

    The Columbus Blue Jackets were back in action last night against the Montreal Canadiens. They came into the game having dropped the game against the New York Rangers on Saturday in a shootout.

    As they looked to get back to their winning ways, things went the distances into a shootout, yet again. The Blue Jackets managed to come out on top against the Canadiens, 4-3. Not only was this a big two points, it also can be a start of another winning streak for the club. 

    With that, that let's take a look at some of the quotes from the players and coaches from the game.

    Columbus Blue Jackets:

    Dean Evason: Head Coach

    • Doesn't seem underlying concerns with the third period
    • Felt the Canadiens two goals in the third were by products of misfortunes
    • Not pleased with how much the puck was In their zone on the third
    • Said that he and the coaching staff will look to correct some of the issues in the third
    • Felt the Coyle line changed the momentum of the game
    • Their mindset in overtime, is that they want to be fresh
    • Feels that Marchenko is competing hard every night - becoming a leader on the team
    • Doesn't feel there is a theme to them blowing leads
    • Joked that the easiest thing to fix them blowing leads is to score one more goal
    • They are disappointed that they didn't win in regulation, but aren't beating themselves up over it

    Adam Fantilli 

    • Team knows they have to shut their opponents down more in the third
    • Said they have to play "a boring game" late in the game
    • Felt they did well stopping the Canadiens rush
    • Feels the power play is building chemistry
    • Not happy about giving up the point in regulation
    • Marchenko doesn't nearly get enough credit
    • Felt that Marchenko is getting better every single night

    Kirill Marchenko

    • Happy to get the win, not happy to give up the point to the Canadiens
    • Disappointed that they gave up two goals in the third, feels the team will discuss it and how to fix it going forward
    • This win felt better after the Canadiens beat them out of the playoffs last season
    • Feels the power play is getting better every night

    Zach Werenski

    • Mentioned that the team didn't want to give up the lead in the third, but happy they got the win
    • Feels team needs to be aggressive and stay above their opponent to lock it down
    • Believes games like this will only make Columbus better as a team
    • Felt the team needs to look for chances to get the puck out of the zone
    • Doesn't feel blowing leads in the third is a huge deal, but needs to be fixed
    • Feels the team is giving up too many points late in games that can come back to haunt them
    • He made sure to mention himself when talking about protecting the lead

    Montreal Canadiens:

    Josh Anderson

    • Felt the Canadiens competed to the very end
    • Proud of the team for battling and getting a point
    • Praised the Blue Jackets goalie for playing well
    • Felt that they played simple, which helped carry the momentum
    • Feels that they played well enough to secure a win
    • Felt once his team got going, they controlled the game

    Nick Suzuki

    • Felt the team started off a bit slow
    • Much like Anderson, he felt the team controlled the play when they got going
    • Enjoyed what Bolduc brought to the lineup
    • The team likes to have possession, especially their blue liners

    What's Next for the Blue Jackets?

    The Blue Jackets will continue their Canadian road trip, with a stop in Winnipeg to face off against the Jets. After that, they will head to Toronto to play the Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena. That game against the Maple Leafs is always a fun one, because a lot of players who are from the area have friends and family come to watch. So, expect a good performance from Fantilli on Thursday night.
