The Blue Jackets had six different players score goals on Tuesday night as they took down the visiting Sabres 6-4. Yegor Chinakhov(2), Kirill Marchenko(2), Adam Fantilli(2), Mathieu Olivier(1), Zach Aston-Reese(1), and Damon Severson(1) all scored for the Jackets in the win, as 11 players had points on Tuesday night.
Daniil Tarasov stopped 20 of 24 Sabres shots in the win.
But with this win comes more bad news, potentially. Kent Johnson seemed to have suffered an upper-body injury after colliding with James van Riemsdyk early in the game. After getting up and skating to the bench, he was seen throwing his stick and gloves in disgust. After the game, head coach Dean Evason said Johnson’s injury “doesn’t look good," and will get an update on Friday. Yet another injury this season.
Cole Sillinger said after the game that he was pulled by the NHL to go through "protocol" as well, but he came back and finished the game. We're assuming he meant concussion protocol.
After four games, the Jackets are 10th on the power play at 27.3%. They're also scoring 4.25 goals per game, which is third in the league. The 3.75 goals per game they're giving up is the 10th worst in the league. But hey, they're 2-2 and have four points through four games, something no one expected. They've scored six goals twice already this season.
Thursday's "Donkey of the Day" was Justin Danforth.
