The Calgary Flames are in Columbus to play the Blue Jackets for the only time this season.

The Calgary Flames are in town for the first of two meetings between the two clubs on the season. This will be the first of two games in 5 days for the two teams.

Over the summer, the cities of Columbus and Calgary became united as one after the tragic loss of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew. Players from both teams continue to honor the fallen brothers in their own special ways.

The fan bases of both teams have vowed to root for each other this season, and they've done just that. The two teams will play each other two times in five days, so the friendship will be put on hold for two days at least. Both teams have been playing better hockey than the experts predicted, despite the perceived lack of talent from both teams.

The Flames come into this game having lost their last two games, after winning the previous four. They're also 5-2-3 in the last ten and have moved into a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Flames have been led by committee so far this season. They have no players with more than 7 goals, and no players with more than 13 points. They don't score a lot of goals but have been one of the only teams in the league to have excellent goaltending. They're 8th in the league in goals given up, which is keeping them in most games. Dustin Wolf has been stellar this season for the Flames.

The Flames give up a lot of penalties, so the Jackets should have plenty of chances against the 28th-ranked PK in the league.

The Flames are currently 2nd in the Pacific, 4th in the West, and 8th in the NHL.
