Columbus Blue Jackets prospect William Whitelaw, a  2023 3rd-round pick, has had an up-and-down college career.

After two years and 21 total goals at Wisconsin and the University of Michigan, Whitelaw decided to hit the transfer portal and go to Western Michigan.

In his first year at WMU, he set career highs in goals with 19, assists with 15, and points with 34.

He's picking right back up where he left off last year.

In a game last night against Long Island University, Whitelaw went off.

In a 10-2 win over LIU, Whitelaw scored four goals, the first time since 2021 that a Bronco has scored that many goals in a single game. His four goals also tied the NCHC single-game record. Whitelaw finished with five points in total.

Whitelaw is now second in the nation with 7 goals and third with 12 points. He's also a plus-10 for the season.

After this season, Whitelaw is expected to turn pro. The Blue Jackets will have until June 1, 2027, to sign him after his senior season at WMU ends.

Whitelaw has always shown he has skill at the CBJ development camps over the last couple of years and has a nasty shot. If the Jackets can get him signed, he could be a diamond in the rough type of player.
