Ayodele Adeniye has been invited to the Washington Capitals Rookie Camp. The event will take place from Sept. 13-16 at the McMullen Hockey Arena in Annapolis, Md.
Adeniye, a 25-year-old defenseman, and Columbus native spent the last three seasons playing for Adrian College in Michigan. In his three seasons as a Bulldog, he had 23 total points in 85 games. He started his college career at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, where he played in 21 games and didn't record a point. Sadly, Alabama-Huntsville would fold the team after only one season of him being there.
The 6-foot-5, 205lbs defenseman's Adrian Bulldogs would go on to win the National Championship in 2022, going 31-1-0. In his second season at Adrian, they had a record of 25-5-2, and his senior year ended with a record of 24-7-1
Adeniye also participated in the Cap City Summer Elite League this summer in Columbus. The league has NHLers, college hockey players, and amateurs competing in a summer series that showcases talent from all across the region. He played in three games and had 8 points.
Ayodele Adeniye started playing for AAA Blue Jackets 13U, as a lot of kids do. After playing in Cleveland, Florida, New Jersey, and Iowa, he would return to Columbus to play for the AAA Blue Jackets 18U. He went on to play Junior "A" in Canada for two years, playing for the Carleton Place Canadiens. He then went on to college.
This isn't Adeniye's first trip to Washington. In July he also got the call to attend the Washington Capitals Development Camp.
