The Detroit Red Wings put Christian Fischer on waivers yesterday.

Columbus has claimed former Detroit Red Wing Christian Fischer today.

Fischer played in 45 games for Detroit this season and totaled 7 points.

The 2015 2nd round pick has played 522 NHL games and has a total of 137 points.

Don Waddell, per a press release, said, “Christian Fischer brings additional size, versatility and energy to our forward group. He’s played in over 500 NHL games, possesses great character and will fit in very well with our team and how we play.”

Fischer makes 1,125,000 and will be a UFA after the season.

Look for another move to accommodate the claiming of Fischer, as the CBJ are currently at the maximum roster capacity.
